POPSTAR MAXI PUTS FAITH IN HIS MINI

Sports
Press release from: Knockhill Racing Circuit
PR Agency: Knockhill
(openPR) - Esteemed Rapper and song writer Maxi Jazz will perform in favour of a different type of audience when he appears on the grid at Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife on Sunday, 14th September to race in the Scottish Motor Racing Club Mini Cooper Cup.

The 51 year old artist is best known as the lead vocalist of British Band ‘Faithless’.

Born in London, Maxi is a Soka Gakkai Buddhist rapper. He celebrated his 50th birthday on June 15th 2007 in Hyde Park, London by headlining the 02 Wireless Festival where he was greeted by thousands of fans singing happy birthday.

Maxi has been active in the music scene of rap, dance and hip hop since 1983 and founded ‘The Soul Food Café System’ as a DJ in 1984 having discovered ‘hip-hop’ a year earlier.

He went on to form the highly successful ‘Faithless’ together with Jamie Catto and Sister Bliss. As a Soka Gakkai Buddhist, Maxi’s strong beliefs and the Band’s own strong individual beliefs, contrast with the name Faithless which was chosen during the writing of the song ‘Salva Mea’, a song about frustration, which was something to which Maxi could relate from his own experiences.

He also sang alongside Robbie Williams on the collaborative album ‘1 Giant Leap’ in the single ‘My Culture’.

Away from his music, Maxi’s other passion is for cars and Motor Racing, which is what brings him to Knockhill, Scotlands National Motorsport Centre on Sunday, 14th September.

‘Maxi Jazz Racing’ was formed in 2000 when he managed only a few races in the British Ford Fiesta Championship due to his musical obligations. Since then he has raced Ginetta Sportscars, a Nissan 350z and in 2006 and 2007 has been racing a Porche 997 in the Porche Carrera Cup GB.

On a recent familiarisation visit to the popular Fife Circuit, Maxi unfortunately finished upside down. Unhurt and undaunted, he is looking forward to reacquainting himself with the tricky track when he gets behind the wheel of the Circuit’s celebrity Mini Cooper and hopefully hits the right note this time.

Maxi’s appearance will be part of a full programme of Scottish Championship Motor Racing which includes 150mph Single Seater Formula Fords, Sports & Saloon Championship, Ford Fiesta XR2 Championship, Classic Sports & Saloons and the fabulously fast and entertaining American Legends Cars Championship.

Race Action from 11:00am visit www.Knockhill.com for event details and ticket prices.
