It took years to get a true sequel to Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on Xbox Live Arcade — although we did get Waves in PGR4 and Galaxies on Wii and DS while we waited. Going forward, a shortage of ideas is certainly not among Bizarre Creations’ problems in creating future Geometry Wars titles, as programmer Stephen Cakebread told MTV Multiplayer, “We have enough game ideas to do Geometry Wars for probably about 10 games. It depends on what will work.”

It’s a well know fact that videogames are a recent favorite scapegoat for the media and politics. Videogames are the latest bad influence on today’s youth like comic books, rock and roll and so many other controversial forms of media and art that have been targeted over the years. Unfortunately, it seems these talking heads are doing their job well.

During the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris, France in June, Diablo III Lead Designer Jay Wilson speaking with MTV’s Tracey John stated what might possibly be the least needed confirmation in video game history - that Blizzard has plans and ideas for Diablo games beyond the upcoming third installment. Wilson was responding to the claim that Diablo III would round out the Diablo series as a Trilogy:

EA and Paramount Digital Entertainment have delivered details on the upcoming videogame, The Godfather II. According to the press release on Business Wire, the storyline is based on the original Godfather II film and Mario Puzo’s Corleone family drama expanding the narrative into 1960’s Florida, Cuba and New York. The Godfather II videogame offers gamers a fully open-world environment to explore as you expand your empire from the Big Apple to the streets of Florida and Cuba.

Tickets for BlizzCon 2008 are on sale at Blizzard Entertainments Blizzcon 2008 site. The site opened for sales yesterday but went down due to difficulties meeting the load of purchase requests. The site is back up and ready to take your ticket order for BlizzCon 2008 which runs October 10-11th at the Anaheim CA convention center. Admission to the third annual BlizzCon event will run you $100.
