Zhou's Kitchen @ Anchorpoint

Zhou's Kitchen is fast becoming my number 1 choice for dim sum lunches as it is near my work place, and the food is of a consistently good standard.

The shaomai (鱼子烧卖)is generously filled with pork and shrimps, and topped with fish roe. I don't usually eat much siew mai, but this one has prawns and I like it^^

My favourite xiaojiaos (水晶虾饺), or prawn dumplings! The slightly chewy skins are not too thick and the shrimps inside the dumplings are fresh and firm to the bite. Pretty good dumplings!

This one is a steal! It's only S$5, and contains bits of crab meat, sharks fin and some vegetables. The guan tang jiao or shark's fin soup dumpling is quite filling (at least for me) so I try to eat it last.

The carrot cake (腊味煎萝卜糕) here is good, not too oily, and not too salty. The pan fried sides are slightly crispy. I can taste bits of chinese sausage in the carrot cake, and that gives this dish a nice sweet flavour.

Tung Lok has always been very good with Cantonese food, and Zhou's Kitchen is a fine example of middle priced dim sum of pretty good quality. Someone asked me if I prefer Crystal Jade or Zhou's Kitchen. I think both places has their strong and weak points. I think on the whole, I prefer Zhou's kitchen's dim sum, but I think Crystal Jade's Char Siew buns/pastries, and egg tarts are still better. Anyway, it's great to find good dim sum in local restaurants, never mind if it's Zhou's Kitchen or Crystal Jade, and I'm happy :)
