Booze and flattery: The dark art of getting her to give it up on a first date

Good Japanese girls are always taught to protect their chastity, and for the large part they do -- though there are occasional lapses, and they have to start over again.
But a surprising survey by men's magazine Spa! (8/7) reveals that 55 percent of women would, under certain circumstances, sleep with a guy the first night they meet him.
And the men's weekly probes some of those women who did just that for the first time, finding out why they took the plunge -- or to be more precise, permitted their partner to take the plunge.
Satoko Yamanabe was 23 when she chose a co-worker to be the first person she slept with after their first date, following a night on the booze a couple of years ago. Yamanabe's fiance had recently dumped her and she was feeling lonely. She blurted her heart out to her co-worker as they drank, and the next thing she realized she was in his arms in his apartment.
"It's true that he helped me fill a hole in my heart and put me at ease," she tells Spa!
Tomomi Nishino vowed never to give herself up cheaply, so still regrets her foray into fast flings from four years ago. She met a guy through an SNS site and enjoyed his company; so much, in fact, that they kept bar-hopping till she was so blotto she had no idea what she was doing.
"I woke up in the morning and realized we'd had sex. I was horribly ashamed and thought I'd done something terribly bad. I crept out of his house and vowed never to meet him again, but I forgot my train pass and he called me up," the 31-year-old ad agency worker says. "He kept asking me out, but I told him how embarrassed I was about what had happened and always refused to meet again."
Megumi Yamakawa virtually fell into her one-off, prompted by watching her friends make out with guys they'd all just met at a matchmaking party. Yamakawa had spent the evening lumbered with a boring salesman, but responded as she watched all her friends kissing the men they'd met and the man she'd talked to sought the same from her.
"I thought it was OK because everyone else was doing it," the 25-year-old tells Spa! "When he stuck his tongue in my mouth, I started kissing him back."
When Yuko Enomoto was 22, she was involved in a long-distance relationship with a man whose friend offered to take her out for a drive in his new car. When the friend professed his love -- or at least lust -- for her, she responded, knowing that she was doing the wrong thing by her boyfriend by cheating, but feeling the friend was being even naughtier by jeopardizing their camaraderie.
"It was probably me who talked him into sleeping together," she says. "But I had no intention of splitting up with my boyfriend and it was a once only affair."
Sachiko Adachi slept with a man not long after meeting him while on a trip to Bali with a group of her female friends. She'd been so impressed by the efforts of local hotel worker Din to understand her, she accepted his offer to take a hotel room together so they could try and get to know each other better through their travel book English phrase conversations. They drank and the night turned romantic.
"There was hardly any foreplay and he was so forceful, it hurt," she says. "I prefer Japanese guys, but I was still impressed by just how hard he tried to woo me."
Being impressed went a long way toward Yumi Endo jumping into the sack with the president of the temp agency she works for after her boss threw a lavish party attended by dozens of models. Despite the bevy of beauties, the company boss only had eyes for her, and soon led Endo toward a hotel room.
"When I told him that was unacceptable, he was angry. 'What's unacceptable? That I picked you out as the most beautiful woman at the party? You should be delighted,' he told me," Endo tells Spa! "Considering how many gorgeous women had been hanging around and that he had deliberately gone after me, I felt a sense of honor and ended up going with him." (By Ryann Connell)
