COMMENTARY

Developed countries high on the list. Places where people have little faith in the authorities, or where the authorities themselves are the rapists, very low.

This table is a great example of lies, damned lies and statistics.

I think we should keep in mind that in some culture it could be see bad to report being raped and that maybe the country in the top just have a bigger proportion of people raped that report it...

Unfortunately our country (South Africa) may be a case in which the stats are true.

Some of the stats are bogus, but it seems likely that Canada and Australia's position in relation to the US and wealthier European countries is accurate. Something weird going on there.

I looked at this site out of curiousity as to rape rates in Muslim countries. The list is pretty clear, and only one Muslim country appears on the list and it is way on the bottom.

Perhaps the statistics are skewed by reporting methods. Perhaps the U.S. is high on the list because statutory rape is included and SR does not apply in many countries.

I feel rape here, does not include rape within marriage... because Saudi Arabia is at the bottom of list...
But there's a lot of domestic violence in reality, mostly rape in marriage, in arab countries...

For a list with Muslim countries, please see the "Number of Known Terrorist Organizations List". Though I am not sure which of the list is skewed by reporting methods.

SA #1 for rape that is no surprise.

Australia 2nd in the world - I am not convinced - how has this been calculated?
