GTA IV's Roman is Looking for Work

Thu, 22 May 2008 01:55:35 +0000

You may have heard how some of the voice actors from GTA IV don’t feel they were compensated well enough for their work, most prominently Michael Hollick, the voice of Niko. Well, the voice of Roman, Jason Zumwalt, feels the same way; but he’s not sitting around doing nothing about it. No, he’s using his new celebrity to rent himself out to fans for some extra cash. And, well, also to pay off some of his debts it seems. “Oh! That is painful in real life!”

CliffyB Says "Don't Call Me 'CliffyB'"

Wed, 21 May 2008 21:54:55 +0000

Apparently Cliff Bleszinski, best known as the lead designer of Gears of War, is tired of his nickname “CliffyB,” and want to drop the famous moniker. He basically said that it’s “time to grow up a bit,” since the name originated back when he was a 20-something working on Unreal Tournament games. Now he’s in his early 30’s and at the height of his career, so he seems to want a more professional standing in gamers eyes. Unfortunately, I don’t think I could really spell his last name off the top of my head to save my life (my first attempt came out a “Blesininzski”). As such, I’m just going to refer to him as “Cliff Johnson,” as in “Cliff Johnson’s Gears of War 2 is looking sweet.”

Revised E3 Floorplan is So Very True

Wed, 21 May 2008 21:34:35 +0000

This new floorplan for this year’s E3 comes courtesy of The-MinusWorld.com’s “agent b,” and it probably reflects what we can really expect to see at the show. It’s one of those images that’s both funny and a little sad at the same time, because it is so incredibly true. All it’s missing really is a spot to represent the giant hole left by Activision’s absence. Not to mention a smaller, but much sexier hole left by the omission of booth babes (R.I.P.).

Guitar Hero: World Tour Trailer Reveals Nothing New

Wed, 21 May 2008 21:27:07 +0000

Guitar Hero: World Tour TrailerActivision has unveiled a new trailer for the next major installment in the Guitar Hero franchise (the word “major” leaves out the DS and Aerosmith versions). Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t really show anything new except a bunch of people playing the new instruments while some text tells you what to expect. So I’m still having a hard time seeing just how this is any different from Rock Band. Well, I guess they’ve got “the most realistic” fake drums — which probably aren’t compatible with anything from Harmonix so I can look forward to more space-eliminating peripherals. And you can apparently create your own tracks, but I still really have no idea how that will work. Not that any of that would matter to me anyway since the whole reason I play these games is because I have no musical talent.

Infinite Undiscovery Release Date Announced

Wed, 21 May 2008 21:11:46 +0000

It’s been a long time since we heard anything new from Square Enix regarding their upcoming RPG, Infinite Undiscovery, but now it seems they’ve nailed down a release date for the game. It’s now set to hit the Xbox 360 on September 2nd. If you’ve played any Japanese RPG before, you can probably already guess the story. A young androgynous boy is said to have a strange destiny, which comes into play the day the world is beset by a mysterious evil, which he then sets off to fight. Yeah, I’m not really sure what sets this apart form other games of its ilk, but RPG fans have been drooling over this for awhile; so it looks like they won’t have to wait too much longer. The graphics do look pretty though.

Zero Punctuation Takes a Look Back at Painkiller

Wed, 21 May 2008 20:51:45 +0000

Another Wednesday, another hilarious review from Yahtzee Croshaw. As Yahtzee points out, we’re kind of in the middle of a temporary drought, where no really exciting games are being released. So this week, he’s decided to take a step back in time and look at an old favorite of his, Painkiller. Somehow, even though he genuinely likes this game, he still manages to make another humorous review. Personally, I never cared for Painkiller much, but I’ve certainly played much much worse in recent months.
