Taliban hit NATO chopper in Afghanistan
Sat, 17 May 2008 20:51:11
Insurgents have fired a rocket that hit a NATO helicopter carrying the governor of a key southern Afghan province, officials have said.

They say no one was injured in the Saturday incident.

Helmand Gov. Ghulab Mangal says he and a delegation of British officials were about to land in the town of Musa Qala in Helmand province when an insurgent rocket propelled grenade struck the helicopter.

The pilots managed to land the CH-47 Chinook helicopter at a nearby NATO base, Mangal has told The Associated Press.

The helicopter was damaged.

Taliban managed to take control of Musa Qala for ten months last year.
