By all counts, the amount of malware online grows exponentially on a daily basis. An estimated 5.5 million malware programs were released online last year, according to AV Test Labs; that number has increased four times since 2006 and by at least 15 times since 2005.[1]

At the same time, the industry itself is evolving, with cyber crime growing in sophistication and even mimicking real-world crime tactics. Malware writers are now stealthily blending threats – made up of different types of malicious software, combining traditional forms of spyware with traditional forms of viruses – in order to infiltrate PCs.

“Our primary focus with our flagship Ad-Aware product is, and will continue to be, to provide computer users with protection against deceptive and malicious spyware. However, as the malware industry adapts so, too, must our technology,” says Lavasoft CEO Jason King.

“Ad-Aware 2008 will meet the needs of today’s computer users by providing a resource-friendly tool which protects our customers against the most dangerous types of online infiltrations - spyware, malware, and viruses.”
