A child sees a pair of shoes in a shop. The child falls in love with them. Eventually, after much persuasion of the parents, the shoes get bought. The child is ecstatic. The shoes are worn every day for months. And then... one day... the child's feet grow too big to wear them any more. This is nobody's fault. Nor is the fact that they don't make those shoes in the next size up. New shoes are on offer now. That's something to celebrate, not to resent. It is time to move on. Gracefully.
