Mizuno jets in to seize his chance

by Ronnie Cully

KOKI MIZUNO got his first taste of life as a Celtic player today - and declared himself ready to show the Hoops fans what he can do.

The Japanese winger flew into Glasgow last night and the 22-year-old reckons he is fit to play, after continuing to train with JEF United while his transfer was finalised.

He said: "I'm very happy and can't wait to play my first game. Celtic are a good team and I feel playing here will help me improve my game.

"I will do my best to get a game as soon as possible. I have been keeping myself in shape so I just need to get used to my new environment. I'm really excited. This is the chance I've been waiting for."

Mizuno comes to the Spl having made his reputation as right winger, but he is willing to appear as required to get a game.

He said: "I'll play anywhere the manager wants me to. I will try to adjust to the kind of player he wants me to be.

"And I'll try to use everything I've learned so far to produce good performances.

"I'm not the kind to think too far ahead. If I can get a place on the bench and be involved with the first team then that will do for now."
