At their meeting of 17th/18th December 2007 the Council of the International Handball Federation (IHF) decided the replay of the Asian Qualification Tournaments for the 2008 Olympic Games for both men and women. Since then, the IHF was working towards organizing the repetition of the tournaments with the cooperation of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF). On Monday evening, 7th January 2008, the IHF received the AHF`s official rejection of the IHF Council`s decision.
The IHF will abide by their decision to replay the tournaments which will be staged under the full responsibility of the IHF in Japan before the end of January 2008. Currently, the IHF Head Office and the Japanese Handball Association are working out the organizational and technical details of the tournaments.
