by Angie Perez "It sure looked like that fertilizer guy, but something was different about him," commented one eyewitness to the recent daring bank robbery here in Smallville. Different, indeed. Despite all appearances, local fertilizer king Lex Luthor did NOT rob the Smallville Savings and Loan--at least not by pointing a gun at the manager. However, few onlookers seemed surprised that the brazen culprit could have been Luthor. Said one elderly pedestrian, "I remember thinking: Why not? The Luthors have been robbing us for years; |
why shouldn't this be next?" Others were heard to mutter, "Let's see his daddy buy him an alibi for this one." While they are unable to explain exactly who escaped with the $100,000, police have ascertained that Lex Luthor himself was in Metropolis hosting a fertilizer conference with hundreds of distributors in attendance at the time of the incident. And even Lionel Luthor's millions can't change fingerprints--Lex is innocent. The investigation continues into who the look-alike might have been, but the police apparently have no decent leads at this point. |
