what the DS hasn't outsold the PS2? I thought it had.

SMG was a mega-hit after all, nice to see Zelda: TP back in the top 50, interesting to see COD:4 on 360 outselling the PS3 version, obviously 360 sells to the same type of people in the US there, maybe a lot of US exchange students.

SMG at 830k and counting. Everyone that was calling doom to the Japan market after 2 weeks of release sales can now calm down and just enjoy the long legs.

@artofangels

I'm thinking the same thing, caucasian folk living in Japan. Some other reasons could be Japanese people who own both consoles chose to get it for the 360.

I'd say Nintendo!Pac-Man's not biting quite as big this week. Still a pretty big chomp he's got going on, though. And it looks like Wii Fit's still going strong, which does make me wonder how many months it'll be before they feel confident to release it in the US and not have it eat into their demand for Balance Boards in Japan...

The Japanese hardcore market is doomed!

;)

Pretty good sales for SO:First Departure, I hope it isn't too long of a wait for it to come to North America. I've played the translated SNES version on my Laptop, but these will be better/

Xbox360 version of Call of Duty outselling PS3 version? *faints*

Although I suppose it makes sense with the relative audiences

RoomForOneMore says:
Wii Fit is #1 this week. Oh! 10K shy to 1 million for Wii Fit, next week it will be a million seller.

PSP makes great amount of software sales for once in a long time.

DQIV passes 1 million.

COD4(360) > COD4(PS3) sales.

Yay! TP is in the top 50! Granted it's #50...

PS3 software is following in the footsteps of PSP software. Sometimes ok during launch weeks, pathetic otherwise.

Kenology says:
Question... how much longer can we expect really strong sales like this on the Japanese charts? When will sales begin to tapper off (like what happened in the U.S. this week)? Just curious...

But yeah, anyways:

- Super Mario Galaxy at 1 million sold in another 2 or 3 weeks! It's sure come a long way from those disappointing opening day/1st week sales and it deserves every bit of it.

- Wii Fit probably at a million sold already in real-time!

- Mario Party is fuggin' BEAST.

- Interesting how COD4:MW sold better on XBox360... hmmm.

The Wii has 5 games in the top 10 and none of them are on their first week. That's impressive.

fuhraud says:
Amazing

Wii Fit penetrates 20% of the user base in just 5 weeks

What kind of legs does this have?

Will we see penetration above 50%?

Is this type of thing typical for a peripheral that is not bundled with it's console?

Did the NES Max have this kind of attach rate?

Stay Tuned!!

Lingyis says:
long legs for WiiFit... good chance we see balance board games if it keep selling like this! it could even outsell the ps3.

There is a lag of 2 weeks in the Japanese holiday season because of New Years.

Too bad about PS3. I hope WKC and ES will do ok on it. The hardcore market is down so much.
