Captivated audience members counted down from five as Santa Clause's magical touch sent colorful lights up and down the Christmas tree at the Aliso Viejo Community Association's tree lighting at Grand Park Amphitheater on Sunday.

More than 650 people attended the festive event, which included performances from "The Nutcracker" and from Soka University's Vita Leonis Philharmonic.

The hot chocolate was flowing, Frosty the Snowman helped get everyone in the holiday spirit and loud cheers echoed throughout the crowd when Santa and Mrs. Clause sprinkled their magic dust to light the tree.

"Based on the laughter and the smiles on the faces of adults and children there, I would say everyone had a great time," said AVCA President Ross Chun.
