DURBAN, South Africa -- Japan has scored a comparatively easy group for Asian qualifying rounds for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, being pitted against Thailand, Oman and Bahrain.
Japan, which will be attempting to secure a berth in the World Cup finals for the fourth consecutive tournament, will play its first qualifying match in February next year.
As one of the seeded nations in the Asian Confederation, Japan does not have to take part in the qualifying process until its third round.
