The film features the life of one of the most
popular Cuban musicians Bartolome Maximiliano More (1919-1963) best
known as Benny More, reported Granma online newspaper.
Malaysian movie critic Hebert Wong said the film
both entertains and allows the audience to learn about the life of
the Cuban musician. It also shows part of the Cuban history, and the
social changes taking place at the moment, including the revolution
led by Fidel Castro.
Likewise, Venezuelan designer Eric Alcala dubbed
the movie as a jewel of the Latin-American film.
El Benny is the first long-feature film by Jorge
Luis Sanchez and it starred by Renny Arozarena. The presentation in
Malaysia was made by Cuban ambassador Carlos Amores.
A total of 10 films from the same number of
countries will be screened during the 6th Iberoamerican Film
Festival held at the Soka Gakkai center in the capital of Malaysia.
