Hi, I went to Walmart today. They would not let me file out the incident report. He said that it is between me and the manufacturer.

They can only return me the money that I have bought. What should I do?

R

I do have the very same flip flops as you, Walmart did not make a report they took my name and number and said they would contact me.

They have not contacted me yet but I will go back and demand to make a report.

Thanks again, T

Subject: WalMart won't give me an incident report

Kerry~

I just ran up to our WalMart in Hamburg NY, and asked them for an incident report.
The girl got a bit nervous at the service desk, and called out to the older woman next to her..."She needs an INCIDENT report."
I wondered at their nervousness, and the older woman said to call the manager, which she did.
The manager won't come forward, but asked on the phone what the product was, and I told them flip flops that hurt my feet.
They told me I had to contact the manufacturer, they wouldn't give me an incident report.
Then they said, well, call the 800 Wal Mart number tomorrow, but it was had nothing to do with them, contact the manufacturer.

So, I wanted to find out what the heck made them so nervous from you, and will go back tomorrow to try to fill out the report.

Any thoughts?

This is August 18th

I am STILL getting emails from people saying they have had the same problem, this is amazing.

I am hoping to have test results in VERY soon and hopefully we can find out why this is happening.

1. Take pictures

2. Go to the walmart you bought them and fill out an incident report. (Very important) GET A COPY OF IT!

On the lighter side, I am working on my Mom's site! I still can't believe she has her OWN WEBSITE! I am proud of her!

Let me know what you think, I am learning SO much from putting it together for her! I LOVE this web stuff! I really have to get it done though.

This is the 31st of August, scars are not going away and in-between my toes is STILL peeling some, still a bit painful at times

and I still can not get into my good tennis shoes. And when I try to spend some quality time infront of the computer (it is half of my job ya know) my feet still swell up!

Sorry I didn't put this up sooner,( I have really been working hard on my Mom's site, I think it looks pretty good, I am kind of proud of myself!)

This is Sept 8th 2007. Still peeling a bit, still painful at times, I still can't get into my good tennis shoes, and I still can't sit at the computer for a long time.

Send Feedback to Walmart

So hey everyone, I have gotten a ton of emails saying that the sender has experienced the same thing from these shoes,

Walmart's PR person is saying that they have less than 10 reports,

click here to see how many I have.

According to my inbox less than 10 doesn't seem very realistic, unless it's due to the fact they

won't let people fill the reports out??

Please go into the store where you bought these shoes and fill out an incident report, I can not tell you how important this is! Get a copy of the report!!

I have counted the emails I have gotten from people saying same thing happened to them, 150. One hundred and fifty emails from people.

Here are a couple of the latest emails I have gotten

"Just so you know they are off the shelf at our local Walmart as of yesterday. I have left messages for the CMI claim rep.

I am an insurance broker so I know how the game is played"

I tried to buy two pairs of these exact flip-flops at Wal-Mart today (on clearance for $1). When they were scanned at the check-out, an alert flashed up on

the cash register telling the cashier they weren’t allowed to be sold. She wouldn’t let me have them. I would have just thought it was a mistake, but then I remembered seeing the photos

of the chemical burns. This occurred in Bristol, TN by the way.

S

It's true, (Sept 3) I checked, it is true, it said sale prohibited at the register. I am working on acquiring more info.

"Although that toy was still on the shelf, we couldn’t actually buy it. At Wal-Mart, recalled items are put into the computer as blocked, so when you try to purchase a recalled

product, it won’t let the toy leave the store."~WTHR-TV, Indianapolis

Does that mean the flip flops WERE recalled?

Sept 7 Friday I called 1800-walmart tonight and was told there is a recall on No Boundaries flip flops but no info at all on the flip flops I inquired about.

Kerry,

I wanted to let you know that the WM my Mom works for here in Viera , FL pulled all of the flops from their inventory a few weeks ago.

None of the employees knew why until I passed along the e-mail I received with your story. It was a few days later they noticed a large flat of shoes in the back.

Good luck to you! And thank you for sharing your story.

Hi Kerry---
I work at the WalMart in Phillipsburg, NJ (about an hour west of NYC on US 22) and the flip flops were FINALLY pulled off the shelves and put in carts to be

sent back to the company for a recall!! FINALLY!!!

Thanks to your website, these flip flops have not been selling well at all, even at $1 clearance price. I have been circulating your email and asking area people to forward

it locally and they have complied. I have sent this website to everyone on my address list all over the country and asked them to forward it as well.
19 million hits in a month!!! WOW!!!!

There is POWER IN NUMBERS!!!

Best Wishes to you!! You are doing a great thing!!!!

****FOLLOW UP**** Kerry---

I am going into work tonight. I will nose around in the shoe bin area and see if the cart is still there with the flip flops loaded in it. I'm an overnight stocker who's a "floater"

and it would not be unusual for me to be in the stockroom looking for something. I will also look for a memo.

The cart had a little hand written tag on it saying, "recall", and that is all. If it is still there I will try to surreptitiously take a photo with the camera of my cell phone.

Everyone uses their cell phones at work so no one will think anything of it if I have mine on me. If the guy who works there is around I will ask him why they are recalled to see if he even knows.

*****FOLLOW UP***** (I had asked about the no boundaries thing) OK--No Boundaries is just a brand name division of WalMart, like when they bought out the Bobbie Brooks and Faded

Glory clothing lines and made them WM brands.
The flip flops I saw in the cart were all different wild colors with flowers and without. Some were solids like black and pink and yellow. I will check the brand insignia as well.
Hope the cart is still back there. The Shoe Mgr is lazy so it probably is.... LOL!!!

***FOLLOW UP*** Fm XXXXXXXXX . No trail @ all!! Flip flops disappeared. I even nosed around in boxes & papers....nothing! Vamoose!!!

(This person emailed me from their cell while they were at work to tell me they were gone.)

You might be interested to know this: A couple days ago, when I was
in our Pennsville Walmart store, a salesperson was taking a bunch of
flip-flops from the display. Another person said, "Why are you doing
that?" The first person said, They've all been recalled." So, I guess
they got the message. Good work on your part to make this an issue
Walmart HAD to address. Thanks for all your hard work. I hope your
feet are all healed by now. What an outrage!

My Question to walmart, are they recalled or not? If they are, is it a secret recall or something?

All these shoes are marked to $1.00 for clearance at store #2083. I just purchased 10 pair of these as "beach party costumes" for coworkers who are celebrating a guy who is retiring today,

9-10-07. Luckily, earlier this morning, a friend in Virginia emailed me note with the subject line "don't buy flip flops at Walmart" - how timely - since the party is at 4pm today. I have just

enough time to return the shoes, get my money back, and insist they pull the remainders from the shelves.

S

There is not an actual "Recall" yet, the email I got at work said to "pull and hold for further disposition". The email was sent on Friday, Aug 31 around 5:15 pm. I left at 4:00 so I did not get the

email before I left. I had the weekend off and walmart gave me labor day off (so they wouldn't have to pay any extra that week) went back to work on Tuesday Sept. 4 and nobody in

my entire store cared enough to take them off the shelf. As soon as I got there I pulled them. It did state only the Daisy print ones were affected, not the solid color. By the way, I work at store 2XXX!!

Pull & hold is great if they are testing them to see what is going on here but then why did I get this email?

It was sent Sept 11 2007 Oh my gosh! I just bought three pair (blue, yellow and pink) on the
clearance rack at Wal-mart for $.99 each and thought they were so cute! I
haven't worn them yet, thank goodness, and they are going in the trash as
soon as I get home. Thank you so much for getting the word out there.

Thanks!
KL

Hi,
This is the 2nd time I have emailed you regarding our local Walmart in Madison Heights, Virginia. This time it is to say that last night there were buggys full of flip flops at the front of the store

for $1 "quick sale" while I was in line a lady had a pair of the flip flops from your story...when the cashier scanned them the register came up with a "Sale not allowed, recalled item" code thingy.

She said she had been having that all day long, but they didn't actually PULL the flip flops off the shelf. Just have them coming up recalled or whatever when you scan them. I share your story/email with EVERYONE I know that shops at Walmart...God forbid these things happened to a child, it's bad enough to happen to an adult

The above email was sent to me Septmeber 14 2007

I called Walmart today (Sept 18th) they DID use the word RECALL, I have the proof. But I guess it is a quiet recall, or like I said secret recall.

The shoes were supposedly pulled August 31st (I guess at the end of the day because I have a receipt from early afternoon on Aug. 31st.)

Here is a little tid bit I found on a major news website

"The first burn case was reported by a Florida woman on Aug. 31.

She purchased the Sand-N-Sun flip-flops at Wal-Mart and later noticed a chemical burn along the area where the flip-flop bands touched her feet.

The items were quickly removed from all store shelves nationwide following the other claims of foot burns due to the shoes, according to a Wal-Mart spokesman."

Okay, I am not trying to be picky here, but here is the REAL deal....I filed a report on July 2nd, I have the paperwork to back up what I am saying.

Walmart did not do anything until August 31st It is my opinion they did not move quickly to remove the items from the shelves.

Does walmart have paperwork to back up what THEY are saying??

Matter of fact, the REAL question here is when on earth did they know that there MAY be a problem??

This is R, he had an incident involving shoes, walmart shoes. He came into frequent contact with walmart shoes in his line of work and look what happened.

R and I don't think they acted very quickly. We think they should have acted or at LEAST checked into this a YEAR ago when the pictures above was taken

That's right, you read it right, this happened a YEAR ago.

Oh and by the way.....

and....

"September 13 – FOX23 News told you about a woman in Florida who blames a popular pair of Chinese-made flip-flops sold by Wal-Mart for a nasty rash on her feet.

Wal-Mart says it has pulled the shoes off its shelves, but FOX23 found that's not the case. We were able to buy a pair of those flip-flops today!

We found a pair at the Wal-Mart right off the Creek Turnpike in Broken Arrow. When we went to the check-out, the computer couldn't scan the price, but the cashier,

just trying to be helpful, over-rode the machine and sold them to us."

Recall Run-around

Well, Friday the 7th of September I called 1800 walmart to see about a recall, they said there is a recall on No Boundaries flip flops, why is this info NOT on their website??

Update; Sept 10 2007 the story has changed yet again. I called 1800 walmart to find out about any recalls regarding the shoes

I spoke with a guy named Alex, he told me that "there was no recall but I can take the shoes back to walmart and get my money back."

My question of the day is, why would I take them back and get my money back if there is no recall?

UPDATE! SEPTEMBER 18 I called, they told me there is a recall, I have the audio on tape. So YES there IS a recall, according to the gentleman I spoke with,

again...why is this info NOT on their website??
