先週発表されたiPhone 6sシリーズには"3D Touch”というディスプレイに加えた圧力を感知しPeekとPopジェスチャーを呼び出せる機能が備わっていますが、3DTechtronicsや9to5Macによるとこの3D Touchはディスプレイに保護フィルムを貼っても動作するそうです。

　3D TechtronicsのZaheenさんがAppleのSVP Phil Schiller氏にメールで「3D TouchはiPhone 6sのスクリーンに保護フィルムやプロテクターを貼っても動作しますか？」と質問したところ、Phil氏から以下の様に「我々が決めたガイドラインの"screen overlays"に従っていれば3D Touchは動作する」という回答を得たそうです。

Appleのガイドラインとは？

　Appleのガイドラインとはサードパーティメーカー向けに公開している"Case Design Guidelines for Apple Devices"のことで、このガイドラインのタッチスクリーンの項目には「タッチスクリーンを0.3mm以上の厚さの保護フィルム(overlay)で覆ってはいけない」「タッチスクリーンと保護フィルムの間に空隙が入ってはいけない」「導電性でなければならない」という3つの制約がります。

If a case design requires the Apple device’s touchscreen to be covered with an overlay, the overlay must not:
・exceed 0.3 mm in thickness
・introduce air gaps between the touchscreen and overlay
・be electrically conductive

　上記制約のうち後の2つは当然のことなので問題は保護フィルムの厚さですが、9to5Macは大抵の保護フィルムは0.3 mmより薄いので、ほとんどの保護フィルムは問題なくiPhone 6sでも利用できるだろうとコメントしています。

The last requirement is naturally conformed to by any touchscreen cover, otherwise the touchscreen wouldn’t work at all. In addition, the vast majority of screen protectors are thinner than 0.3mm for both functional and aesthetic reasons.

　ですが、Case Design Guidelines for Apple Devicesの改訂履歴を見るとこの他にもいくつかの制約がアップデート・追記されているのでiPhone 6sを購入する方はiPhone 6s対応のケースや保護フィルムを購入したほうがよさそうです。
