Bigger houses cost more to maintain and are more of a hassle to clean. But there's nothing stopping you from doing it. You may even find a smaller space works since there will be no harpy telling you that you can't use the kitchen and dining room as work spaces.

One of the best moves I've ever made was from a big family home to a small house. The drop in bill costs, cleaning time, redecorating time is amazing. For my workroom I converted the attic myself for not much money, I loved the cinema room in my old place but still have the pull down screen and projector in one of the new bedrooms with a small sofa, just using the space sensibly and we don't miss the old place at all. In fact this new place is much better as it's right by the beach so all my exercise is free now

Learn to make use of your freezer. You can make say a pot of chili, and freeze half of it to thaw out later. "They" say you're not supposed to freeze things like steak, but if you do it in a marinade, all those microscopic icicles piercing the cells of the meat will let the marinade soak in better. Not saying perfectly aged beef or such isn't delicious, just that is too.
