Jose Mourinho insists that he is happy with his Manchester United squad and does not want any player to leave in January but accepts some may want more game-time.

He said after leaving Memphis Depay and Ashley Young out of his match-day party to face West Ham last week: “Football players want to play matches and I cannot give to everyone at the same time, so it hurts me.”

A number of players have a question mark over their Old Trafford futures, either because of lack of opportunity or because of the manager's doubts about them.

United are expecting interest in some in the January window.

Here is reporter Michael Hale's verdict on five players who have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford.

Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin has become the forgotten man with the Bastian Schweinsteiger saga in the opening months of the season.

The Frenchman’s three Premier League appearances from the bench have done nothing to illustrate why former manager Louis van Gaal dished out £25 million for him.

Schneiderlin could earn a move to another Premier League club and leaving Old Trafford might suit both parties equally. SELL

Schweinsteiger

Not to be outdone by Leicester City, Brexit or Donald Trump’s election, Mourinho pulled off the biggest shock of all last Wednesday night as Schweinsteiger was brought on for his first United appearance since March.

Surely the Germany legend’s re-emergence won’t be a one-off and the World Cup winner's experience could prove helpful over the coming six months.

The 32-year-old isn’t the player he once was but it looks like his United career, which seemed doomed until recently, isn’t over just yet. KEEP

Darmian

Matteo Darmian has been another to re-emerge in recent times with Mourinho opting to play the Italy international at left back.

Many United fans are baffled as to how with Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and arguably Ashley Young all putting in stronger claims to be starting there.

Darmian also contributes to the frustrating lack of chances for promising youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah and it may be time for the Italian to move on, with a number of clubs said to be keen on him. SELL

Shaw

Shaw’s United career has never fully recovered since his horrendous double-leg break at PSV Eindhoven in September 2015.

He was the Reds best player up until that point in the campaign and his season-long injury was the catalyst for Van Gaal’s last season in charge falling apart.

Shaw is still United and England’s best left back if playing well and despite Mourinho criticising the former Southampton man, Shaw should be at United for many years to come. KEEP

Memphis

Memphis’ United career was hampered by Shaw’s long-term injury and it's fair to say he hasn't hit the heights expected since arriving at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman strung up an exciting partnership down the left side in the early stages of last season but that came to an abrupt end on that Thursday night in his home country.

With Martial hitting form, Young adding more versatility to the squad as well as Rashford and Jesse Lingard both able to play left wing, it could be time for Depay to depart. SELL
