Born in Manchester, full family supports United I remember being 6 years old and watching the Champions League final in 99 I couldn't fully understand at the time what was going on but the way my family reacted was surreal so there is only 1 team for me always.

Noone in my family was really into football before I starting playing as a kid. I got my first football jersey when my dad had an intermediate landing in Manchester airport and bought me a Man Utd jersey for my 8 year old birthday. The one with Vodafone and the red and black colors from 2003. I wore it until it fell to pieces and the letters from the printing fell off.

Proud United fan ever since.

My dad. He supported them since the 50's and if I supported another club he'd disown me.

We've had a hard time recently with family and work and the likes and he hasn't been able to go to many games so I flew him and my brother over for the City cup match a few weeks ago. It was amazing.

Was Born in Pakistan but moved to Manchester when I was 2 years old, as my mum (who is English and from Manchester) wanted us to go back, my dad is from Pakistan, but he also wanted to go back. From there I've been to many games at Old Trafford with my siblings and my dad. Great memories especially 1999. Now I'm 24 married and live in London due to getting a good job, and have a baby son. I'll start him young like how my dad did :).

'98 World Cup, the England v Argentina game. I was only a child, but I couldn't understand why Beckham was sent off. Beckham became my favourite player because of that incident.

Played alot of FPS as a 14y/o back in 09. Decided to switch things up and play FIFA and pick the best team at the time in the game (Considered only EPL because it was the only familiar one to me at the time) They were amazing with the front three of Ronaldo Rooney and Tevez. Realised how amazing they were. Wanted to know how and why they were on the top. Went deep into understanding and absolutely fell in love with Fergie and his philosophy (kinda shaped me atm and was inspirational)

Understood we were hated so much because we were so successful and people envied that. (Became a life lesson for me)

Now I might get called out for this as a gloryhunter or whatever but I love United and I haven't jumped ship to another great team based on FIFA because it has become more than that now and I don't regret that decision ever.

As a child, I remember there being a time I had to pick a club. Being top of the league and playing attractive/exciting attacking football was a no brainer for me, just like so many others

Born in the same city as Ruud van Nistelrooij (he still lives here with his wife and kids). Watched a game saw Ruud and became an instant fan..

I was 7, and my Dad and my Uncle were watching "some" game on the TV. Turns out that game was Manchester United-Bayern Munich. One of the teams was leading the whole game, but somehow the other team won at the end. From then, i root for the underdog in every sport or aspect of life without realizing at the time, that the "underdog" that was losing was actually the biggest club in the world.

First item of clothing I ever wore when I was born, was the 93 home United shirt. I've still got it in the house, it's literally about the size of my hand

A van carrying some of the players from my local club, KLASA had an accident while returning from a match and two players died. When I started watching PL, on a Man Utd match, the commentator mentioned the Munich disaster. I think tragedy got me into supporting Man Utd.

I was 10, watching some football show. They showed some highlights of a team scoring 2 goals in injury time to win the Champions League. The commentator was going nuts. I had heard of Manchester United before that, but never seen then play. After seeing those highlights, I thought this might be an interesting team to follow. I wasn't wrong. Hello from the Maldives.

They came to the US on tour and played my home team, the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City). First premier league team I ever saw live and it was a joy to watch. I recently moved to England and went to a match at Old Trafford last year vs Chelsea. It was a dream come true!

I was 8. Was football on the tellie. United vs Liverpool. Didn't know who either team was back then (2000). Knew who Beckham was but as I said I knew nothing about which team was which. Liked this Beckham fella, he looked really cool. United lost that game. Ended up supporting united because I knew who David Beckham was and he played for Manchester United. The rest is history.

My granddad. Both of my parents are Arsenal supporters, and were intent on me following in their footsteps - I was nearly called Freddie after Ljungberg, my mothers favourite player. I was too young to understand and protest, which is why a picture of toddler me smiling in an Arsenal shirt, unaware of the mediocrity and delusion that was adorning me, hangs on the wall in my house. My grandfather was a huge Manchester United fan, and I was a huge fan of my grandfather. All I remember is spending the day with him, and coming home supporting United. I didn't know what they were, he could have supported Accrington and all these years later I'd probably be running their subreddit. Safe to say my parents weren't happy with my conversion, but I was on the right side of the 8-2 as I love to remind them.

My Dad I suppose, it's kind of tradition in England that you support the same team as your father.

[–]jamieandhisego 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

Not necessarily. My dad supports Liverpool, my mum supports Chelsea, and my granddad supports Arsenal. We're a family of glory-hounds, and we clearly hate each other.

[–]memphish21enjoy the wine and a mince pie 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Damn that's a variety :L and yeah my uncle supports United and his sons support City and United respectively so it's not always the case, it is for most though I think.

I picked united once on fifa 04 when i was 9 and noticed this giggs guy who was fast and his last name sounded kind of funny to me so i asked my older cousin if he was a good player and he said yes , haven't looked back since xD

Played a football manager game in 95-96 I think an d the best teams were Newcastle and Manchester United. I choose man united bacause newcastle looked like hockey refs.

[–]bulkorbulk 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Poor reason, but anyway:

Around 1995 or 96 I was about 8 and kids at my school were choosing Man Utd or Arsenal and I chose Man Utd. I didn't live anywhere near Manchester but I have done for about 5 years now. Very close to the Etihad!

I always loved soccer, playing or watching, but never got into it growing up in the US until the 2006 word cup. My brother and I were glued to the TV the whole tournament. After the tournament, my brother and I followed our favorites back to the Premier league and began watching together. He followed Thierry Henry to Arsenal. I followed Cristiano Ronaldo to the red side of Manchester and never looked back.

When I was in highschool my biology teacher was a United fan. So when we played during the week he would put the game on the wall instead of teaching. I watched the Moscow final in my bio class.

Grandpa was a United supporter and I was pretty close to him. Half of his kids and my cousins are Liverpool fans and the other half United, if we include me. Unfortunately I never got to talk to him about it because he got pretty sick with Alzheimers and stuff. Also started playing FM a couple years ago and chose United because he always talked about them.

[–]classwarriornorway 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

No one in my family watched football - so neither did I (and therefore had no preferred team). I was sitting in class (6th or 7th grade), next to Peter. The class was tasked with writing an essay, presentation, whatever, on any subject we'd like. Peter chose to write about United. He said to me, jokingly (knowing I knew absolutely nothing about football) "and Manchester United was founded in....?". And I kid you not, I said 1878. Just spat it out, from the top of my head. A random number. After this, I just went with it -like it was just meant to be.

Started following the Premier League when Mourinho had just won his first title with Chelsea. Fell in love with the team especially Ronaldo and Rooney. Won 3 titles on the trot in the next 3 years and a CL. You can thank me, guys!

As an American I have no particular alliances to a particular club in England. That being said I have a United crest tattooed on my shoulder.

When I was very young I vividly remember my dad bringing me to a soccer shop (where I would later work) and ask me questions about what team I wanted to support. I remember telling him that I wanted a red jersey so he grabbed a United strip and an arsenal strip. He held them up and asked simply, "do you want to be a devil or a cannon?"

"Devil"

I never looked back

[–]EmSixTeenGregg 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

My uncle Henry played for them, all our family supports the team.

All my family was supporting AC Milan against Man U in the 2007 semi final so I supported Man U. We lost but the following season I kept up with them and we won the double and I was hooked.

This sounds ridiculous but back in the day I must have seen them play Aston villa and I liked United's kit a ton better. Plus this was back in the days of cristiano, scholes and even Beckham I think so that helped too. But yeah I support United because at the wee age of 7 I said I liked their kit over Aston villa's kit.

David Beckham mostly. I did my best to copy his footballing technique.

Coincidentally, I share a name with one of the busby babes who died in Munich.

When I was 5 or 6, my parents bought me a soccer fútbol book that had George Best in it. For whatever reason I decided they were my team. My dad spent a lot of time overseas, and would bring things back for me in the days before cable coverage. That was ~38 years ago...

I feel like I've answered this nearly every week on here

Dad was a supporter, grandad was a supporter. Both wanted me to see it first hand so started taking me in 95. By the next season we was getting tickets nearly every other week (back in the day where you had to post a cheque and a stamped address envelope to apply) by 99 I got to go every week until the glazers took over and fucked with our season ticket

Still get to go about 5 times a season
