I've been hearing this argument since the election. Apparently we've all seen Hamilton on Broadway and follow Lena Dunham on twitter and only care about eccentric identity politics, and this is why we lost. This completely ignores that plenty of Middle American cities like Columbus, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Nashville, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Denver, etc. backed Clinton, and that some of the upper midwest states that Trump won weren't exactly landslides. It also continues the marginalization of rural minority communities in the South West and the Black Belt. Anyways the reason I'm bringing this up is because after the election conservatives have attempted to suggest we are some out-of-touch community whose cultural dominance is ending when if anything the opposite is true. We are still the majority and don't forget it.
