Have been tinkering, and changing ever since I first wrote it up 4 years (or more ago) on the first HR forums.

This is the current culmination of the idea. The link contains alternate costumes, pictures, voicelines, possible changes, change logs, animation ideas, item lists, and so on.

Poison must be inhaled, ingested, or delivered via touch, while venom is injected into a wound. This may seem overly pedantic, but it should be noted that venom isn't usually poisonous

In general it's basically a circle on the ground that will erupt to spew poison in an area. Think of it that way.

That being said I have been debating reducing the channeling time on it by .5 seconds, and making the poison instead erupt from Mefitis herself so she can use Chocking Gas port, or blink to port in, and explode. She'd still retain the staggered damage mechanic so it goes off, and it doesn't go away on death still, and it might be easier to visualize, or understand.

As for her passive, yeah the fact that it's reduced by protections means that if you build her right she could be a monster like freya late game, or her spells just get a nice added dot for them.

If it was true damage it would be broken beyond belief though.

I might tinker with it more later. I mean I've been doing it for 4 years already as is.

That's a hard one. I was thinking of it more like divine ruin in that it would proc it once, and no more.

It could honestly go either way. It would more likely be safer to have it not proc it in case it was OP. I'll have to look at it some more. An upvote for making me think about something new.

I used to play, and on occassion stiill play mid wars, for a game called HON, or Heroes of Newerth, and one of my favorite things they did was hold contest for god ideas/skins that were voted on by the community/staff, and got added to the game.

It added community interaction, and they made a TON of money because people would want skins they helped vote for/design.

Honestly that passive sounds pretty broken, they might sound like low numbers but hitting 10 autos with a 5 second window between them is perfectly doable.

However I now realise, we need more Femme Fetale skins.

I don't doubt that late game it could be a fairly monstrous passive (provided you wanted to be an AA beast like Freya, but her health remains pretty low so you can burst her down really easy. There's also the fact that magic damage reduction would drop her dot considerably. Again though if you have a better passive, or something I'm all ears.

For example at 2% if you have 600 MP if you get 10 stacks the dot will do 120 damage per second. It is then reduced by magic protection (most gods have about 25% innate ), which boots it down to 90, and then if you have a single defensive item it'll drop it down to 60-70.

Honestly I'm a big supporter of the idea "Simpler is better" when it comes to god kits. Something I noticed when reading was how incredibly stacked and complicated her abilities are, they all seem to have multiple effects that do a fair few things; I'm not a fan of that.

By far I find that Ra is my ideal mage, he does a tonne of damage and has a strong heal; however that's pretty much all he has. He has only a soft CC in the slow and blind on his 2 and only a buff on his movement speed from his passive as any type of escape. Ra is one of the original gods in smite and his kit is often considered weak (and in the case of newer gods or buffs it is; including this week's Scylla buff) however I make Ra work whenever I play him. In a game with very strong and bloated gods (looking at you Raijin) to play something so simple that he just shoots beams is very rewarding when you get it to work.

To me the best passives in the game are ones that take very little to understand them. Whenever you use an ability as Ra you gain movement speed; whenever you go over your 2 or through your 1 as Janus you get extra magical power; Artemis has a bonus to crit, nothing else; etc.

Your passive, while it looks simple enough, interacts with the rest of her kit too much for my taste; to the point where if I was playing this character I would be spending far too much time worrying about it. I really like the whole poison theme that's going, so why not instead just give her a standard DOT on her basics? By standard I mean it doesn't scale or increase in damage it's just a simple DOT that at all time does say 5% of your magical power over 5 seconds; it also does not stack, only refreshes the effect on subsequent basic attacks.

I already submitted the idea to them via, twitter, HRpon on reddit, and it's been on their official forums for over 4 years. I don't hold out much hope for it, but I'm mainly doing it because I find the idea fun, and wanted some feedback. I've gone through a few notebooks running various item builds/numbers to make sure it's as balanced as I can make it.

Putting it on reddit for feedback is another way for lots of eyes to help me miss any glaring mistakes I might have made, or ideas to make it better.

So I love everything about this. One thing that worries me is that she can eat 6 autos if she pops her max level spirits. That could be HUGE vs an ADC or AA assassin.

Otherwise, absolutely brilliant. I love the "unkillable gods" line.

Her spirits were at one point "baleful cloak" which was a poison shell she wrapped around herself that would negate the next ability effect (slow/stun) cast at her, and would apply her passive to anyone that attacked her for 4-6 seconds, but the feedback I got suggested they didn't care much for that skill so it was reworked into the spirits of today.

As for eating autos they have to be fairly close by in order to do so. The range on them would be about half a ranged AA heroes auto range. So if you're at the back of your creep wave, and they're at the middle, or other side it'll work, but they're not gonna charge back from the other side of the map (for example) to stop anything.

That makes sense. I guess it would REALLY reward thought ahead of time in order to utilise that. As I mentioned, I like the kit, I can just see it just being a monster if used properly (but I guess that's to be said about most gods)

I feel like the 10 stacks treshold to apply the bonus on abilities is too high. You will probably never get a chance to use 4 abilities on the same target during a teamfight . The treshold should be somewhere between 5-7

In general early game you probably won't get super high thresholds, but I'm hoping that with her ult (and the mutlistacks it provides) it would make it much more effective in team fighting. I'll run some more numbers though, and see what I can come up with.

Do you think that maybe the passive being DoT damage may make Mefitis a bit too oppressive to go against? I remember a Blizzard dev working on Overwatch said that DoT effects need to be very carefully put in so that the other person doesn't feel helpless while being relentlessly damaged without any way to avoid it. On the other hand being the Goddess of Poisons without DoTs would be a bit difficult.

All of the abilities are intertwined with the passive, and even though it's a well designed Goddess, to change the passive would be changing too much and you'd lose the identity you've created for her. Perhaps let the poison part of the Goddess be the passive and leave it as is and have the diseases be the abilities. For example none of the smite gods have a passive ultimate (apart from stance switchers). Something like a miasma or a weakening aura for an ultimate, and disease-related abilities that can reinforce the passive damage but not make it over-bearing by refreshing it.
What I thought of was: a basic attack would set off the passive and tick for 5 seconds; the next ability used on that god would add an effect to the end of the passive ticks. An interesting idea would be adding a "mana damage" ability, that adds a mana burn effect at the end of the passive ticks, for example.

So I'm a bit confused here. Her 2 says Magic Power but the rest of her skills says MP. That could be both Magic Power or Mana Points. I like the idea of your skills gaining power depending on how much mana you have. I'm assuming it's magic power, though.

No. The ult can't be cancelled, and you can't do any sort of ability until the channel is over. So you'd take the damage and die unless a situation like the one described in the ability happens.

It would be really OP. The only way they're similar is that they both can not die while she's casting her ult. After it's casted she can die very easily.

Absolutely. It was fun, and running the numbers to try, and make it more balanced is a fun intellectual challenge (seeing as I can't just put her into the game, and tweak things myself), and it's fun to imagine various gods/goddess in Smite.

It's a nice hobby. Not really all that different from collecting stamps, or following fantasy football since I do it for myself.

If it gets noticed, and added? Great. If it doesn't? /shrug
