Buddha was MGTOW.
I’ve been lurking here for about a month and am impressed. I don’t think that MGTOW is really all that new—a subset of men have always escaped society and forged their own way. The new paths that are created advance civilization when they are based on personal liberation and equality. Buddha was MGTOW. Most monks are level three red pill.
He created a community based on going your own way as a way of achieving enlightenment/fulfillment/deep knowledge of the universe. His basic rules for monks were the following. While there are a lot of rules these are the ones that struck me as most related to MGTOW.
- You had to renounce your place in society including your marriage. (Buddha walked away from his.)
- No money.
- No sex.
- One set of clothing.
- Practice personal cultivation.
- One meal a day.
The rules are designed to eliminate dependence on society as much as possible while creating the maximum amount of time to practice personal cultivation. These ideas resonate with MTGOW especially the idea of eliminating attachments to society as way to create personal freedom. If you need a little inspiration for your own personal work take a look at some of the stories of the Buddhist “saints.”
