The Facts:
Donald Trump has never been elected to public office.
The Commentary:
Most presidents have served in an elected office before making it to the highest political office in the land. For example, Lincoln served in the Illionois House of Representatives and the the US House of Representatives before becoming president.
Many Trump supporters will say that since Trump hasn’t been a politician, that makes him a better candidate.
I highly disagree.
Being elected to an office is a challenge. It involves running a campaign for multiple months, standing up to public scrutiny, and being selected over someone else. It’s challenging. It’s a weeding out process that eliminates people who shouldn’t be in process. The presidential race is the highest elections. It involves the most scrutiny, the most competition, and requires the a very good campaign.
Somewhere along the line, Trump got it into his head that he can get into politics by running for the most important political office in the world. He thought he could learn by the seat of his pants and do a good job. Sound a little arrogant?
If you’ve been watching the poll recently, it is very apparent that this isn’t the case. Hillary Clinton has been running circles around Donald Trump. He doesn’t have a strong campaign, he doesn’t have a well design message, comes with a lot of scandals, and Trump can’t appeal to swing voters. It’s this lack of experience that is showing during the campaign.
Also, being a politician takes a special set of skills. It’s different than running a business and focusing on profit. It focuses on appealing to many voters. Again, Trump’s lack of experience is showing up here.
It’s simple. Don’t expect Donald Trump to do well as president. He simply doesn’t have any experience. He’ll make many mistakes and get an excruciating low approval rating very quickly.
