I really dont think hes that egotistic in real life , I think having a persona off the pitch helps him intimidate defenders on it. He's 34 and the PL is one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world, if he doesn't have a pre-season he won't be making much of an impact until a good chunk of the season is gone and we'll basically be flushing our money down the toilet.
