World titles won't help 'angry dad' Kameda, says JBC

TOKYO, March 16 (Reuters) - Shiro Kameda hopes the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC) will overturn a ban and grant him a trainers license to return to the sport, but the fact two of his sons hold world titles will not sway the commission's decision.

The 44-year-old was booted out of boxing for abusing a referee in 2007. Two of his three sons, Koki and Daiki, are now world champions but the JBC's ethics committee will not take this into account when it makes its decision.

"A judgement on his return would not be influenced by his sons holding world titles," the JBC's Takashi Uchida told Reuters on Tuesday.

The East Japan Boxing Association would file a petition with the JBC lobbying for Shiro's ban to be overturned, the Nikkan Sports reported.

Kameda is keen for a hearing before Koki defends his WBC flyweight crown against Thailand's Pongsaklek Wongjongkam on March 27.

Middle brother Daiki became the second member of Japan's 'brat pack' boxing family to win a world title when he claimed the WBA flyweight belt last month.

Daiki was suspended for a year for violent behaviour in a failed bid for the WBC crown in 2007. (Reporting by Alastair Himmer. Editing by Peter Rutherford. To query or comment on this story email sportsfeedback@thomsonreuters.com)
