After several weeks of thinking it over, former two division champion Oscar Larios has announced his retirement from the sport of boxing. At the young age of 32, Larios was involved in 77 pro bouts (69-7-1, 39KOs). He last fought in March, losing his WBC featherweight title to Takahiro Aoh. After taking a beating at the hands of Jorge Linares in July of 2007 in Las Vegas, he was medically suspended from fighting in the United States after some post-medical exams revealed a minor subdural hematoma [brain bleed]. He didn't stop his career and continued to fight in Mexico and Japan.
He made the announcement during a Saturday card in Mexico.
"I thank everyone for the support that they gave me during my career, but the moment to say goodbye has arrived. I was world champion of the WBC in two divisions and myself, I am grateful to leave with everything that boxing has given me," Larios said.
Larios began his career in 1994 and had three battles with Israel Vazquez, a big bout with Manny Pacquiao, two with Wayne McCullough, a war with Agapito Sanchez and many more tough bouts.
