Default Buddhist Nun for a day...

* Ryugen-ji, a Buddhist temple in Kyoto Prefecture's Yamashina, is running a program where women can get to know what it feels like to be a Buddhist nun. Ryugen-ji holds the Nun-For-A-Day courses twice a month -- and has done so since 1980 -- with over 3,000 people having taken part so far. "Most participants are women in their 30s," Koyo Watanabe, Ryugen-ji's temple affairs supervisor, tells Sunday Mainichi, adding that women of that age group tend to be tired both from work and their busy private lives.

* Hotel Granvia Kyoto has spotted the growing potential of the Nun-For-A-Day program and is now offering weekly stay programs for women to "get thee to a nunnery," so to speak.
