Mr. Body Fat

  • There are still plenty of career opportunities in the Land of the Rising Sun. ;)

Latest superheroes reveal cracks of the trade

Taishibo, one of Japan's latest superheroes, manages thanks to his gigantic girth, to combine the typically tight-fitting costume, if only because it's several sizes too small, with the view of his underwear, albeit via a plumber's crack but his similarities to Western superheroes pretty much end their. Taishibo is a member of the Kirin Sentai Aminonjers, a group of misfits with mystical powers a little closer to home than being able to bend steel with their bare hands. Clad in color-coordinated uniforms resembling the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the Aminonjers are built more for comfort than for speed, but they're fast becoming a major hit following their creation to promote a soft drink rich in amino acids. [...] The Aminonjers are made up of the corpulent Taishibo (Body Fat), the skeletal Herohero (Starving), distracted Uwanosora (Daydreamer), drunken Nonbei (Boozer) and the only female member, O-Hada (Skin). Josei Jishin says that while it can't reveal the identity of the members, it can provide some details of their alter egos. Taishibo is played by an actor in his 20s and tips the scales at 150 kilograms. Though slightly taller, Herohero weighs in a whopping 110 kilograms less. Daydreaming Uwanosora is actually an actor and highly talented young director. Nonbei, who wears a necktie headband and is armed with the sozzled salaryman's typical take-out sushi peace gift for an irate wife, is actually a veteran stage actor. O-hada, the stylish girl member of the super troopers, spoke exclusively to the women's magazine.

  • Heh, if you can appreciate this character maybe you'll find the following site just as humorous. After reading about "Mr. Body Fat" these guys came to mind. Taken from their FAQ, "Kaiju Big Battel" describe themselves in the following fashion:

"Studio Kaiju, an independent Boston-based performance and media group, is the driving force behind the live-event series known as Kaiju Big Battel. Organizer of sold-out events, Studio Kaiju is best known for its live tournament-style performances, which are a humorous mix of music, video, and performance art.

Kaiju Big Battel is a live event series that revolves around tournament-style performances, which are a tongue-in-cheek hybrid of American pro-wrestling, Japanese-monster-movie mayhem, and lowbrow pop-culture.

Currently, the Kaiju Universe maintains an active roster of approximately 30 monsters and costumed characters. Battels typically take place in a standard-size wrestling ring, lined with miniature cityscape and random, over-sized Japanese monster-movie props."

It's really pretty amusing and the site has their own mini-games, sample videos, manga, etc. I encourage you to check out some of the Monster profiles and sample videos as they are really quite humorous.

  • That guy likes the he`s the brother of the TV show host from `Debuya`. That guy could probably toss down some serious sumo moves though.....He`s my hero!:p

  • Omg that's absolutely hilarious! What a brilliant marketing campaign and I commend Kirin for their creativity. The thought of five "Superheroes" (one named "Boozer" no less, lol) all riding a bike built for five is a refreshingly original idea. Thnx for posting that heh.
    :D
