Thanks to its purported health benefits and proponents such as Britney Spears, belly dancing is undergoing a boom among Japanese women. And that's good news for guys who've got the guts to tuck into a bit of tummy action, according to Weekly Playboy.

"We've had an incredible increase in student numbers since the start of the year. We think it's probably been started by pop stars who belly dance. Lots of the girls who come here to learn say they want to be able to belly dance like their favorite performer," a spokesman for Tokyo belly dancing school Alkamarahni Yotsuya says.

"Do they like it for the dietary effects? I don't think you can get thinner by belly dancing. But, because you move the stomach and hips in a actively rhythmical manner, your organs become more active, making it effective against ailments like constipation, period pain and stiff shoulders. And belly dancing is just so feminine, so many girls learn it so they can use it to turn on their fellers."

But belly dancing also appears to have an effect below the belly as well. "Belly dancing certainly seems to have an effect on sex lives," the spokesman says. "I've heard that it helps to tighten everything up." Proponents seem to believe that a good belly dance does wonders for the libido.

"The other day, I put on a belly dance show for my boyfriend as a kind of foreplay. Halfway through the dance, he just screamed that he couldn't watch any more," belly dance student Esumi tells Weekly Playboy. "He went at me like a wild animal, screaming out that the way I was moving my hips was 'erotically criminal.'"

Fujio Mine, a writer who Weekly Playboy describes as having a reputation for seediness so bad that his mother would cry if she knew what people said about him, boasts of having tumbled in the hay with a practitioner of the ancient Middle Eastern art.

"She started moaning and her face looked as though she was in a trance. But you should have seen the speed at which her hips moved. And it wasn't just up and down like a piston. She sort of bent herself into a 'V' shape. I ended up going to places where no man has gone before," he says.

Fortunately for Tokyoites, there is somebody out there who can initiate the curious into the world of belly dance sex. Maria Yoshiwara is a sex shop worker and dirty movie actress who spent years in Cairo learning how to belly dance. She has no hesitations is recommending a bonk with a belly dancer.

"Belly dancing rounds out a woman's figure. The stomach gets just the right amount of flesh on it to make it look healthy. And behind that is a wall of muscle. It's not fat, just a gorgeous-looking gut. It's the kind of gut that a guy wants to feel. The dance itself is also beautiful. Because the back muscles are stretched, belly dancing also improves the posture, boosts the bust and rounds out the hips. Belly dancing makes a beautiful woman," Yoshiwara tells Weekly Playboy.

"What's more, belly dancing doesn't just strengthen the muscles, it also builds up power in the joints. That means changing positions during sex becomes much easier. If the guy stretches out or something, the training helps to change positions smoothly."
