A VERY FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE DOUCAI 'DRAGON' JARLET AND COVER
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
Of globular form with a short lipped rim, delicately enamelled around the body with two five-clawed dragons amidst cloud scrolls in pursuit of 'flaming pearls', one dragon in red the other in blue, above crashing waves and rockwork around the base and below a band of lappets at the rim, the cover similarly decorated with lappets and cloud scrolls

此罐原為胡惠春舊藏。
至今並無其他與此拍品相同的乾隆瓷出版記錄,香港佳士得曾於2007年5月27日拍出一件原為英國鐵路養老基金會收藏的乾隆款龍紋小罐,拍品編號1365。瑞士Baur Collection藏品中有一件裝飾風格相似的雍正款帶蓋小罐,倫敦佳士得亦於2008年11月4日拍出一件雍正款的龍紋小罐,拍品編號219。

No other doucai example of this form and decoration appears to be recorded. A comparable Qianlong doucai jarlet was sold at Christies Hong Kong, 27 May 2007, lot 1365.
A similarly decorated Yongzheng-marked doucai globular jarlet without its cover was sold at Christies London, 4 November 2008, lot 219. A further Yongzheng-marked example is illustrated by John Ayers, The Baur Collection, vol. 4, Geneva, 1974, A572 (no.61).
