Asuka Sawamoto, a sometime pin-up model, occasional grid girl and irregular musician who refers to herself as "a multi-sexy idol" tells Asahi Geino (4/10) she's the "most hated person in Akihabara."
Over recent weeks, the 22-year-old performer has taken advantage of the Tokyo geek haven's traffic-free Sunday streets on two occasions to promote her upcoming shows.
And she did so by wearing a skimpy skirt she willingly raised to flash shots of her G-string-clad buttocks and mound, quickly attracting an audience of over 200, the vast majority using their mobile phone cameras to snap away at the sights Sawamoto presented them with.
"I've always performed in sets of a live performance and photo shoot," Sawamoto tells Asahi Geino. "I've been doing this stuff in Akihabara since July last year."
Sawamoto has become something of a star among Japanese bloggers, and the Net is filled with pictures of her exhibitionist shows, as well as plenty of arguments both for and against her methods of promotion.
Sawamoto acknowledges that while she's made plenty of fans, she's also made an equally large number of enemies turned off by her brazen approach. Not that opposition worries her.
"I'm the most hated person in Akihabara," she says with pride. "I can't help it if some people want to complain."
Complaints may be the least of the young performer's worries. Her flagrant flaunting has already been reported to the police for skirting obscenity laws, and she's been warned by the cops not to go too far. With authorities keeping a very close eye on her, it's made it impossible for her to reveal the exact date she plans her next assault on Akihabara's car-free streets.
"I'm planning something for April," she tells Asahi Geino. "And I'd say the warmer weather probably means I'll be showing even more skin than I have until now."
