Kyung Lah
Kyung Lah
has been a general assignment reporter for CBS 2 News, Chicago since
January 2000, reporting for all of the station’s newscasts.
Before
becoming a reporter at CBS 2, Lah served as a news reporter for
KGTV in San Diego, Calif. (1995-2000). She was one of the first
reporters on the scene of “Heaven’s Gate,” the religious cult
that committed mass suicide. Prior to that, Lah was a general
assignment reporter at WWMT-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich. (1994-95).
She first worked at CBS 2 as a field producer and researcher, as
well as an undercover producer for the station’s investigation
unit (1993-94). She began her career in journalism as a reporter
and anchor at WDWS-AM/WHMS-FM Radio in Champaign, Ill. (1992-93).
Lah has
received numerous awards including: a local Emmy for
investigative reporting; Best Criminal Justice/Legal Affairs
Award from the San Diego Press Club (1998); and recognition from
the Associated Press (1996) and the Michigan Association of
Broadcasters (1995).
She is a
current member of the Asian American Journalists Association and
a marathon runner.
Lah
graduated with highest honors from the University of Illinois in
1993 with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism. Lah, who was born on
August 27, 1971, in Seoul, South Korea, grew up in Streamwood,
Ill., and graduated from Hoffman Estates High School. She lives
in Chicago with her husband.
